WarGames — Browser Terminal
Step into a green-screen terminal inspired by WarGames. Explore a simulated school computer, scan fictional telephone numbers, connect to WOPR, play Tic-Tac-Toe and try Global Thermonuclear War with an animated map.
Browser adaptation by Toby, with assistance from OpenAI Codex. The interface, help, introduction and game messages are entirely in English. The introduction was newly written for this browser adaptation. Original voice, telephone and modem audio samples from the previously saved WarGames project are included. The terminal writing sound is independently synthesized.
HOW TO PLAY
Read the two introduction pages, then select Start game. Begin with kermit, followed by connect. Type help, or use the Help button / F1. Click a suggested command and press Enter. The up arrow recalls your last command.
At the WOPR login prompt, use joshua, then list games. Try tic-tac-toe or global thermonuclear war. Sound on/off controls sound; Film effect controls gradual text and map presentation.
Everything runs in your browser. The dialer makes no real calls and the school-computer simulation changes no real records. Some game data is saved locally in your browser.
